While in Guatemala you will be surrounded by Spanish. Everywhere you go you will hear people speaking the language, the signs on the street and in stores will be in Spanish. Before long you will even be dreaming in the language. The mornings will be spent on educational field trips where you will learn about the Guatemalan culture as well as the educational system. Most of these trips will also be conducted in Spanish, but at a level where everyone feels comfortable.

The formal classes in Spanish will take every afternoon from 2:00 until 6:00. You will have your own experienced Spanish teacher that will work with you at your level of Spanish, whether you are learning the language for the first time or you are at the advanced level. Your teacher will have written and oral exercises for you to do, but you don't have to just sit at a desk for 4 hours. If you would like to walk around the town or go to the park, your teacher will be glad to speak Spanish with you there and help you use your Spanish in public. We will be studying at La Unión School in Antigua, one of the oldest and best language schools in the country. You will be amazed at how much your Spanish will improve!
